Hi @afibiti, the trick is to reduce the sampling bitrate of the file, cutting just a sample of it, or both.
For example if your original file is 128kbps if you resample it at 64kbps you saved 50% of it's length (of course quality is reduced but still enough to recognize the song)
Other option is to cut in half, from 3 mins for example to 1.5 mins, that also should be enough for someone to recognize the song if he/she knows it.
There are many kind of free software that will do that for you, or you can even use an online service such as this
