open request for Balearic anthems/faves

this is a bit more general/vague than your typical tune ID... i enjoy collecting and playing balearic classics and would welcome recommendations of popular anthems i might've overlooked and/or your personal favourites.

happy to consider a typically eclectic range of not just mellow dance and chill-out but also indie, pop, rock ballads, new beat, hiphop, Italo, etc - from the 80's and early 90's - as long as it's all in a balearic stylee.

would prefer quality to quantity so maybe list 5-20 tunes instead of posting pages of mp3 playlists!

Det, those are both good choices. oddly enough i only ID'ed and bought Afrodizziact a couple of weeks ago! i'm surprised it had passed me by for so long. have heard it played out a few times and finally made a concerted effort to ID it. was easy to pick up a cheap copy of the 2001 reissue with Oakenfold rmx.

Chiz, that's a great list. i've only got half of them so will check out the others. very helpful! thank you.

Why don't you join on our sister site Oldskoolanthemz ? There are plenty of Balearic heads over there who would be more than happy to get a good discussion going about anthems and faves. :thumbsup:

marchwiel, no probs mate. wasn't sure which forum to use but did a search and found that the majority of Balearic ID's were on the Classics forum so went for that. i'll have to investigate OSA when i get a chance - sounds good. ta!

i tried searching on the B word on OSA and found lots of useful posts and threads without having to sign up! :) combined with some Google-based research i've now got pages of info to work from. however i'd still be happy to receive any further recommendations here...

good call on the Talk Talk. i've got their History Revisited album which has several handy tracks, including the dub mix of Hapiness Is Easy and remixes by Justin Robertson, BBG, Dominic Woosey and - on the CD issue - Fluke (as featured in my top 20 above). definitely a "file under Balearic" release. :)
