Hiya Chris! To be honest I'm no expert. all I did with this was run my tape deck through my mixer to re-eq the tape to minidisc, and then transferred the md to CD on a standalone recorder. I converted the CD to mp3 using itunes (which you can download for free). Other members have told me that you can remove some of the hiss using audio manipulation software. Ed:)

you can lead from your tapedeck headphone socket into your soundcard line in & record straight to your hardrive in mp3 format
i use music match jukebox program for doing this , you can download is for free from download.com
there are loads of programs you can use but i find this one the easiest to get my head around:thumbsup:
just set the record source to line in on your soundcard and select what quality you want your mp3 file to be recorded in.
