Frankie Knuckles at The Fridge / Brixton 1993

I recently came across this mix on YouTube, and it quickly grew to be one of my all-time favourites. It really nicely captures the vibe of 1992/1993 and contains no weak tracks, IMHO. Also I think this one is much dubbier than usual Frankie Knuckles mixes from that time.

This is a weird tape, there was a discussion of it on DJ History a while ago (Frankie Knuckles & FK | DJhistory.com). Seems to have done the rounds in London labeled as Frankie Knuckles at the Fridge, but a few years ago someone in the US sent me a bunch of mixes of Junior Vasquez at Sound Factory on CDs and this was among them, labeled as Junior. And it does really sound like Junior, particularly that part where two copies of Good Men - Give It Up are cut back and forth so it's just the percussion; he used to do that a lot. And I never heard Frankie Knuckles layering records over one another the way you hear on this. Can never know for sure of course, did anyone hear Frankie Knuckles when he played at the Fridge?

first of all, I want to say thank you for what you post on YouTube. I have subscribed to you on there since a while and I was able to find so many gems I was searching for since the early 90s!

I would be very surprised if this tape was in fact Frankie Knuckles, it does not sound at all like what he played during 1992 and even the mixing style is different.

Now that you're saying there are doubts, I am almost sure my first instinct was right.

Nevertheless, it is a great mix and surely the best I have heard from Junior.
