Hello

I've been listen to a load of the mixes over at

http://www.deephousepage.com/mixes12.htm

There's an old rap tune that's on a few of them that I'd love to own, it's probably not too hard for you lot to get. It's on mix number 870 Steve 'Silk' Hurley 1980's mix and starts at 22:36.

Some of the lyrics (as far as I can make out, dont laugh) are

I say 3-6-9
The monkey joust 9 (?)
something got something on a three quatre line
the line broke
the monkey got choked
and the all went to hell
on a little rowing boat

one time
and we don't stop etc etc

Is this piss easy? Might well be as I don't know much about old rap...

I`ve just asked my Girlfreind who knows her hip hop...

She thinks it generates from an old double dutch skipping song ripped off by malcolm mclaren and then the bellstars.

"3 6 9, the goose drank wine, the monkey chewed tobacco on the street car line .... etc

Can`t remember its name though

The lyrics are from the Clapping Song which loads of people have covered from the 60's onwards, including Cambodia's favourite star Gary Glitter.

No idea who did the hip hop version.

I cant hera the sample but Lamond Booker's "the prince and the wizard" ep sampled the "cllaping song" heavily o nthe track"my dj and your dj"....

I should point out that this is just one part of the rap over the drum break. I'll have to try and find the other mix on that site with more of the tune.

It does mention Master Jay, but I'm sure this isn't Jam Master Jay (RIP).

The backing track sounds like a live band and is disco sorta stuff like Rappers Delight.
