ID 356 definitely has the beat to 'Conway Brothers - Turn It Up' and the sample "Uno, dos, uno dos tres quattro" is from the intro of C.O.D - In The Bottle

ID 448 still has the 'Conway Brothers - Turn It Up' in there mixed with "Phil Collins - Sussudio''

ID 509 is still 'Conway Brothers - Turn It Up' and scratching 'Aleem - Release Yourself' over the top

sounds like a great mix is it available to download anywhere ? would be keen to hear the whole mix

Thanks Mister G!! Yeah Turn It Up is the foundation break Oakey used in this mix, so you'll hear it throughout the whole thing. I've seen this one a few sites around the internet. Stay tuned, I'll be uploading this mix onto the following page, once more tunes are ID'd: :D

Thanks everyone for the help so far! These James Brown tracks are tough, I heard an unknown tune on a mastermix called 'Girls' by Mr. Magic from around the same time of this mix that featured the same male sample from 133. It seems the tune also featured more James Brown samples along with the one from 133. All of the tunes that have been officially ID'd so far on this mix that Oakey used have been from records released from 1983-1985. If anybody knows any records that sampled James Brown from around this time period, it would help a lot in trying to uncover the exact records Oakey used in this mix. Thanks again for all the help everyone!!

On a side note, if you find the Girls mix, you can actually hear Oakenfold being a radio DJ introducing the mix on Kiss FM back in 1985. He was one of the first DJs on Kiss back when it was a pirate, and was there for about 8 months. Also, the Girls mix is quite good by the way! I recommend tracking it down.

That's about as long as he plays it in this mix, I'll upload a longer cut featuring that electro track (010) along with another tune that I'm trying to ID. It turns out the record I was talking about in the notes for 356 that says "one, two, three, four" isn't the same record as In The Bottle for 356 where the sample is "Uno, dos, uno dos tres quattro". So the new ID that I'm still not sure on is titled 1985-ID-006, and is featured in this new mp3 from 0:06-0:10 where you can hear the sample "one, two, three, four". Thanks for the help!

Hmmm, u sure this is tagged correctly fella?

as that DeBarge - Rhythm Of The Night and Phil Collins - Sussudio part is exactly as found on this one:

Genius At Work - Big Apple Production Vol. IV (12") at Discogs (http://www.discogs.com/Genius-At-Work-Big-Apple-Production-Vol-IV/release/304518)

So I dare to say it was this slab of wax Oaky played back then..

Massive! K I'll check into that too. I've heard the original one before, and also Vol. 2, that's when I realized Oakey used the first part from Vol. 2 as his intro on his 1993 essential mix. I've never heard vol. 4 though, thanks for letting me know m8!

Hmm, that mp3 IS the same mix as featured on this Kiss FM broadcast. I tried matching it up with one of the mixes from the following page, but so far haven't had any luck yet:

discopatrick site (http://www.discopatrick.com/home/2-Bootleg%20Mixes%20-%204-big%20apple-ouch.html)

It's possible the title on your mp3 is mislabeled too, as it doesn't match up with the Big Apple Production Vol. IV rips elsewhere on the net. Do you have any more details on where your copy is from? Gonna try to figure this one out!

I was able to find a match! Here is a 12" cut of it: Unknown Artist - Original Party Mix (Parts 1&2) (12", Promo) at Discogs (http://www.discogs.com/Unknown-Artist-Original-Party-Mix-Parts-12/release/431929)

More information on this mix can be found toward the bottom of the following page: discopatrick site (http://www.discopatrick.com/home/2-Bootleg%20Mixes%20-%2028-several-9.html)

I'm gonna try and get in touch with the guy who runs that site to see if he knows any more information on this mastermix.

Good thing I checked up on this thread, tuneid didn't send me a notification that it had got new replies. Yeah Mister G that's the one, I was able to talk with discopatrick about it and he was kind enough to send me a rip of it for verification purposes. And thanks guys for the new ID updates!! Man twiceage, how on earth did you figure that one out!? haha. The tracklist is getting really complete so far thanks to the help of everyone here!

Also, I did some more research on this mix, and discopatrick got back to me regarding it. It was uncredited on that 12" cut of AW 200, and his discopatrick logo appears on the record label as a watermark since many people would just take images from his site without giving him credit. So that's why his name appears on the image. Also, the AWESOME series wasn't pressed until 1987/1988. This mastermix was broadcast with Oakenfold in 1985 on Kiss 94FM. In the very beginning, as you can hear in sample 006, he says something along the lines of, "alright mastermix live and direct with myself Paul Oakenfold and my engineer Woody Wood". I found out that Woody was a high school m8 of oakey's back in the day. This must be the same person known as Woody Wood. I'm almost fully positive this mix was in fact created by oakenfold and woody wood. To me it doesn't make sense that oakenfold would announce his engineer as part of the intro if the engineer didn't have anything to do with the mastermix. I'm going to try and get in touch with rich colour, the guy who originally recorded this mastermix to tape back in 1985 himself to see if there's anything he knows or can remember from the times this mix was broadcast on kiss back then.

Thanks again for the help everyone! :D
