Sorry, I've not got a clip, all I have is hazy memories, but here's as much as I can remember.
It was from early nineties, no later than 92
The main part of the tune was a bassline
It had a whip noise running through most of the tune, every 8/16th beat or so.
I had it on a mix tape and it was mixed in with Lee Marrow - Do you want me (not sure how much that helps anyone)
I'm from the North West.

It is not:
Beverlee - Set me free
part people whip mix
Raging Rockers - Kounter Act

Any ideas welcome.

Zippi, thanks for the try, but I don't think this is the same tune. I don't remember any screaming in mine. Don't remember your tune at all, and I was frequently at Wigan pier around that time.

8anana, I can't find a sample of this anywhere, you wouldn't happen to have one would you? Although it was definitely a whip not just whiplike, both the whip and crack.

Wee man, I've managed to find a copy of this and it isn't it. Although the version I found didn't have a whip in it at all :S

Thanks for the suggestions anyway. Anyone any other ideas?
Cheers, Entact

Yeah i sort of got the idea that the tune had a whip like sound plus the screaming, got crossed wires with the other post.

Anyway a wild stab in the dark Westbam The whip 1989 ish

Thanks for the suggestions again and the clip, but it's not Havana or Westbam.
The Havana one is more the sort of style, but it's not that. The whip noise wasn't as drawn out, I think the sample came off a Korg M1.
I remember around the time standing in a music shop pretending to test the M1, but really just repeatedly pressing the bass drum sample then every 4th beat pressing the whip or the whistle. Happy days.

Anyone any more ideas?
Thanks again, Entact.

If its a Legends tape, could be Expressive Men - Get Under (aka The Whip)

i can only think of 2 tracks with whip-like sound effects, both charted in the early 90's.
fpi project-rich in paradise
bizarre inc-playing with knives.

Thanks once more for all the suggestions. It's none of those except maybe expressive men as I couldn't find a clip anywhere. Has anyone got one please?

I'm surprised no one remembers it, it was fairly well known, I heard it played in a few clubs.
By the way, there were no vocals in it, don't remember it even having any speech samples.

Cheers,
Entact
