I need help identifying the origin of a sample used in the popular 80's song "Good Vibrations" by Marky Mark. The sample in question is:
"Now we come to the payoff" and it's heard near the beginning of the song before the chorus kicks in.

I believe it originates from a mid 80's rap song, but not sure which one. Can anyone help?

Thanks, John

Probably sampled from Double Dee & Steinski - Lesson 1 (The Payoff Mix) although they originally sampled it from a spoken word record.

This looks promising. You are probably right. Thanks! You saved me hours of time scouring old mixtape radio broadcasts recorded to cassette in the late 80's.

After years of looking for the source of the sample, I finally found it. Here's the details of the 1962 LP.

Title: Miracle Methods & Power Closing Techniques (For the Salesman on the Go!)
Author: Ernie Anderson & Alex Dreier
Label: BRC (Businessmen's Record Club)
Released: 1961 (BRC-114)
Format: Mono Vinyl LP

It's basically a spoken word record that is often categorized under: Instructional, Training, Educational, Spoken word, etc. 'Miracle Methods' is on one side and 'Power Closing Techniques' is on the other side of the LP. Narration is done by Alex Dreier (dead) and Ernie Anderson (also dead), who were radio and tv broadcasters active in the USA from the 1940's through the 1980's.
