Yeah Smoke, luckily I've been able to slowly piece some of this mix together. It's like the holy grail - no other mix has ever come close to influencing me as much as this. Truly seminal. I feel fortunate to have ID'd what I've got - and that in itself has taken awhile. Just got a copy of Akira from Holland the other day, to confirm Part 1 Track 3.

If anyone even knew any board members that might possibly shed more light on these amazing 1993 Early Progressive/Italian tunes, that would be fantastic. I'd appreciate it. I could send them a short message pointing out the post, if they haven't already seen it. Cheers.........................

By all means matey I'll have a listen and see what I know, I was more into 89-92 Sasha especially those halcyon days at Rennaisance when he became resident in 1992.

Had a good listen mate but no joy sorry. Some quality sounds there an all.The bill and ted sample may be a mix of two tracks.I recognize the last part from a tune that was hammered through the summer of 93 at Carlos II.I have it on tape from one of the nights here, but as for a name or anything,I'm clueless.I'll play it my dealer and if I get some info,I'll pass it onto you.Best of luck

Anybody, even remotely heard any of these awesome tunes before.
C'mon!! Someone must know one of them???!

psychosamba
13th December 2003, 04:37 AM
Found out the first track with the killer synths!! Ok, nearly?! A guy who heard the mix who I was chatting to on SoulSeek, has a copy of it. Apparently it's a white label with no info (at least his copy), except the picture of a house in black on the white label. The inlay has the release code SHED002. The other side has some slightly dodgy Goa trance on it.
That's all the information he could tell me.

So can anyone shed (sorry couldn't resist?!) any light on this track now with this info? Come on!!!

Updated tracklisting is:

Part 1

00:00 Unknown (SHED 002) (2nd release on Shed records???)
05:40 Mammagamma E.P. - 'Heaven' (DiscoMagic)
08:37 Akira - 'Bamboo Valley' (The House Dub) (DFC)
11:16 Mukkaa - 'Neebro' (Floor Federation Remix) (Limbo)
16:56 'Unknown' (Funky house with male chant - "Dum dum dana")
20:00 'Unknown' (Funky prog with saxophone, string stabs and male chant, with girl singing in Spanish)
23:44 'Unknown' (Amazing melodic, organ led house - girl singing "I'm coming......dup o bup a dupo (?!)")
26:45 'Unknown' (Melodic organ & piano house - girl singing in Spanish - "Diga me, Siga me, Mata me, Corta me", then "Music, Music...")
31:17 Van Basten - 'Lizard King' (Heroin mix) (Brute)
37:38 Remake - 'Magic Fly' (Top Secret/Loaded)
41:55 'Unknown' (Moody, synthy house - sounds like an early Limbo release)

Part 2

00:00 'Unknown' continued.... (As Above)
00:54 'Unknown' (Chimey, quirky (xylophone sounding) house with sample from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure - guy saying "...Eventually your music will help put an end to war and poverty, it will align the planets, bring them into universal harmony, allowing meaningful contact with all forms of life..", and "excellent" interspersed throughout. Massive reverberating guitar rock breakdown)
06:53 Vista - 'Look to the Future' (Synthetique)
09:36 Vernon - 'Vernon's Wonderland' (Eye-Q)
14:11 The Reese Project - 'Miracle of Life' (Big Bump remix) (NetWork)
18:37 Slam - 'Intensities In Ten Cities' (Soma)
26:51 Moby - 'Move' (You Make Me Feel So Good) (Mute)
31:58 Direct 2 Disc - 'Don't Stop' (Cleveland City)
37:50 'Unknown' (Very funky house - male vocal singing '...Let it burn, come on baby, let it burn higher, come on baby.......")

Anyone any good at detective work?
Hope someone can at last pin down the name of this tune from what I've written above......................

Anyone help with the rest of the tracks on this wicked mix? The definitive mix of early progressive to proper European trance??
It can be found on SoulSeek as Sasha November 1993 Parts 1 & 2. Try Sasha 1993 and November as keywords - this is honestly awesome and well worth downloading.
Can you help?????

Thanks mate - seen that, but don't think it's the same one. The record had only 2 tracks on it, and I'm led to believe that that Edit track is fairly recent - not from 1993.
Perhaps someone can prove me wrong?

Just heard from someone who used to play the track that samples Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, that it was produced (to the best of his knowledge) by Chad Jackson.
He reckoned it was under one of his monikers - not his own name.
Can anyone shed any light on this from that information??

:D :D :D :spin: :spin: :D :D :D
Result!!! - found out what 2 of the tracks from this cracker mix are.

Spoke to a DJ (Glen Molloy) who used to play the 'Bill & Ted' track - he told me it was produced by Chad Jackson.
Bit of detective work later - found Chad's email address online, and he confirmed that it is in fact his tune, namely:

The Popular People's Front Of Judea - 'Excellent' (Immigration)

and from looking on Discogs, the last track on side 2 is also obviously the flipside:

The Popular People's Front Of Judea - '(Come On Baby) Let It Burn' (Immigration)

Happy days!! Been waiting a while for that.

3 ID's in a couple of days. Now for the rest - any takers??

Classic early progressive. Someone will get these eventually..............

Interesting one Mart. That's one more title it's gone under. There's about 6 or 7 monikers for that mix now.
Guess it's testament to it's popularity and uniqueness that it's been known and appreciated under so many guises.

Easily the best house mix I've ever encountered, especially for fans of early Sasha/progressive.

Anyone who hasn't heard it should check it out on Soulseek - alot of people have it there now..........

I'm going to get on me soapbox here :cops: :$ . This is not aimed at u Psycho m8.

No doubt this is a superb mix. Its inspired me to go out and find some of the wicked tunes that are on it, but personally I think its a shame it goes under different names/guises. Too often Vertigo mixes get mislabelled and misrepresented in this way. Sasha never did this mix, Vertigo did.

I posted my finding above because I think its important that people who have this mix know its true author/name/date etc.

I hope that the many people who've d/loaded it, bought it off ebay (and yes it was on there last week as a cdr of "Sasha Candytime"...:S ) or anyone else for that matter knows that fact, cause quite simply imho its nothing but a testament to the amazing talent that is DJ Vertigo.... phones:

Don't worry Mart - I know really this is Vertigo's work. Sasha didn't play this exact style then - it was more led by renaissance classics at that stage.

If I've given the impression that it was a mix of Sasha's - especially in earlier posts - my bad!

It definitely is Vertigo - Sasha's stuff round that time comes frankly no where close to this......................

Sorry m8, my rant deffo wasn't in reply to you at all. I'm prolly just going over old ground here but I've seen a few arguments re: Vertigo/Sasha etc. and believe it or not some people still refuse to accept that Vertigo did many of these fab 'mislabelled' mixes.

Anyways, rant over and apologies for hijacking your thread - still need to nail some of these unknowns... ;)
