Carl Cox- Book of Love ID

Listening to the Carl Cox Book of Love set again ( for the millionth time) recently and checking out the tracklists online as you do, and noticed that there is one track missing from all the tracklists online. Its the tune in between Doc Scott Surgery and DJ Seduction- Come On. Its basically sounds like just an amen break he mixes in between tracks. Has anyone ever ID'd what this tune actually is? Its from 4:53 to 5:53 on here. Cheers, any help grateful

I think he might have had two copies of the same record and he's cutting between them – you can hear him jumping between different bits of the same track at 4:28 in the mix you linked.

Thanks for the reply mate. Having listened to that version of NHS/Surgery I don't think its that one that he uses.

The one Carl uses to mix between Doc Scott and Seduction seems to me to have a more cleaner, bass heavy amen break than Doc Scott. There isn't a point in the Surgery/NHS track that has just an amen break for a whole minute without pads/strings.

Im wondering if he just used a 'breaks sampler' type EP that Norman Cook/Simon Harris used to put out

Yeah, I hear what you're saying about the EQ on the amen break he uses as the standalone.

He *might* have EQed it on the mixer… But not sure that's quite right. Having said that, the EQ on the recording that's been uploaded to YouTube is generally light on the low end, so I think that might just be how this user has recorded their vinyl, rather than a reflection of the actual dynamics of the original record.

There is a good 30-40 seconds of the standalone amen break at the end of this version, with no pads, stabs, or bass – timed link: https://youtu.be/EFyXBeEEucE?t=279 which – if he was using 2 versions of the same record – might be where the break came from.

Like I said in my previous post, in the mix you linked to, I think you can hear him cut between 2 versions of the same record, so there's a chance that might be what's happening here.

Like you said though, it might just be a sample thing from someone like Simon Harris. It's interesting that the version at the end of NHS is just one bar of the Amen loop though (not the full 4 bars), just like the version at the end of the NHS single (not uncommon I know, but still useful)
