Default 13 melodic trance samples from 99/00 for ID Please :-)

Hi Everyone!

I thought I'd go through my old tapes and sample my favourite tunes for ID'ing.

They are all from round about 1999/2000, most are melodic/uplifting trance in the armin/ferry style - some are harder but still melodic like dumonde etc. The Djs were Paul Mendez, Trevor Reilly, Stevie Kerr and Slam.

Thanks to everyone who listens whether or not they can ID, and I hope you enjoy the traxx!

Samples:

ID1 Freejack - Revenant
ID2
ID3 Destination Earth - No Words No Lyrics
ID4
ID5 Mancini - Destiny
ID6 Lovestream - Apacha (Goldenscan Mix) Cheers JiveMaster!
ID7 Fragma - Everybody Knows
ID8 2 Jees - Minus Zero
ID9 Impact - Inspiration (Don't know where the vocals are from, if it's a remix or an acappella?)
ID10 Dropzone - Good & Bad
ID11 Celesta - Swirl (Extended Version)
ID12
ID13 DJ Q - 100 Not Out

Cheers

You have some seriously quality and unidentifiable trance tunage there! I'd love to hear the sets that these were from. All I can help you with is id 6 which I'm pretty certain is Lovestream - Apache. Think there are 2 remixes of this tune and the one that this is the Goldenscan remix.

Hi Jivemaster!

Thanks for the ID.

I'll see how easy it is for me to record a tape to mp3 for you, but the quality won't be great if it works unfortunately.

I'll also make a list of similar tracks which (I'll be rude by saying) you might not have heard of.

I keep meaning to check the legalities of mixes. If it's ok, I'll do a set of hard to come by uplifters from the millenium.

If they sound as good as what you uploaded, then that would be great. Personally I've been scowering this site and sadly I feel that there aren't many classic trance lovers ie 97-99 period on here. You may even be able to identify my tunes hehe. What DJs were you into back then? For me it was Scott Bond and Matt Hardwick

I'm gonna do a mix, maybe an hour long or something. I'll give you a shout when it's done

Sorry, I've already tried to ID your tracks, I have heard track 2 but couldn't tell you the name. I wouldn't mind finding out myself actually!

Probably about 98 to 99 I was listening to Judge Jules on Radio 1. He was really diverse and interesting then, from 'Chris & James - Club For Life '98 (Solar Power Mix)' to 'The Olmec Heads - Spiritualised' and 'Stonebridge - All Nite Long' to 'DJ Ionic - Give It To Me'. He played a bit of trance but it was mostly really nice melodic or bangin house tracks. He also played the hardest house track I've heard; 'Taiko - Echodrop (Jonesy remix)'. But this was house that was hard, not hard-house!

Then I was listening to the Jules in 99 when 'System F - Out Of The Blue(Original 12'' Version)' came on the on the upstairs radio. I couldn't beleive what I was hearing and from then on I was hooked to uplifting and melodic trance! That was Tom Wilson on Clyde 1 Fm. Later in 99 (I think) A radio station called Beat 106 came on air that was dedicated to EDM. It started off very dance/trance/house orientated before selling out a bit. But while it was hot, DJs Trevor Reilly (who produced a great track called 'Down With The Underground), Paul Mendez (who had quite a euphoric style then) and Stevie Kerr all played some stunning tracks.

These guys were much more trance focused, playing some great tracks like:

William Orbit - Ravels Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte (Ferry Corsten Remix)
G-2000 - Millennium (DJ Alici Mix)
Nordlander - Starchild
Sienna - Arcs in Circles
X-Ite - Let Me Love You (Electrique Boutique Remix)

Citizen Caned - The Journey
Parker & Clind - Cosmos
Marco V - Vision
Paganini Traxx - Zoe (Timo Maas Remix)
Rank 1 - Black Snow

Utah Saints - Lost Vagueness (Oliver Lieb Dub Mix)
Sound De-zign - Happiness (Coast 2 Coast Mix)
Hurley & Todd - Sunstorm (DJ Mythos 'N Cosmo remix)
Tenth Chapter - Ghost
David Forbes - Questions (Must Be Asked) [Original]

Then in about 2002 I stopped listening for new trance and have been searching for the classics ever since!

So there you go!

I'm guessing you're from Scotland I love "Down with the Underground" and have it on CD single. It was first introduced to me on Scott Bond's brilliant Platinum mix I love the Limbo imprint and some amazing DJs have come out of Scotland like Steven McCreery and Colin Tavendale of the Tunnel and Stevie Kerr (who actually mixed a Beat 106 album if I'm not mistaken).

A reliable source who eats, sleeps and breathes PVD told me that my 2nd id (which you say you've heard before) is a track known as "Quintessential - A Day To Remember"

Don't suppose you ever recorded any guest mixes on Beat 106 did you? I have one Oakey mix from beat 106 so I'm wondering if any other big names played

Sorry I never answered your question sooner mate, I've got family visiting amongst other commitments.

Unfortunately I don't have any guest mixes, it's funny you mention the oakey mix though because I think they plugged it on one of the tapes I sampled!

I'll try to get the mix done by the start of next week.

Cheers
