Superb idea getting the tracklist section opened up. I don't know if it'll be everyones cup of tea, but I've started work tracklisting the old WBMX mixes off deephousepage and would be up for adding them in, plus its a good excuse to start me trawling thru some old Eclipse tapes...

Only suggestion to add would be poss getting rid of the dates for each section e.g some old US tunes are well before '88, Italo stuff in the early 80's and there's some old electro/disco/soul bits that sometimes get upped on the other site (ok mainly by me.... )

What's with the southern hardcore? There were plenty of midlands and northern hardcore labels too even if hardcore wasn't massive up north Also I think you could extend it to 1994 as there was still plenty of good breakbeat hardcore around til the later half of 94 which was when it split into either jungle or dodgy happy hardcore

I'm with Mart - IMO dates are irrelevant to a point - 'genres' would probably work far better and easier for the user to best place their request.

I would like to see Italo/Disco/Electro/Funk/Soul/Hip Hop defo.

Plus how about more recent stuff?

Good work so far though with out a doubt.

When we started the tracklist section Al asked for it to be '88 to '94 so that's all I've put in it. I do have quite a few lists i've done for pre '88 sets tho (disco, chicago house, acid.. mainly from the DHP), which I'd be happy to put up & I'd like to see the ones you've done too. Prehaps the Tracklist section could be split into 2... pre '88 & '88 to '94?

As for different genres... As said above electro/disco/soul/funk/hip hop/acid/early chicago & NY would interest me but I don't think we should go too mad at this stage & have to many... anything that doen't already have a catagory could be stuck in the Misc section.

I agree..... you can get a bit carried away putting music in a Pigeon Hole... keep it simple... even have an 'Italian' section is dodgy as some people will not know if it is an italian release or some other house tune from the early 90's.. for 'old skool 88-94 stuff' it would be simple just to start with House & Hardcore .... most people can distinguish between the the two (techno most will either dump in house or hardcore depending on how tough or mellow it is)..... have to many genres and people will not bother attempting to id tunes and then that will defeat the object of this site...

thanks for all the suggestions guys

now we have had chance to look how each bit is working i agree with yas. for the time being it is probabley best to keep it simple as while we could split the site into hundreds of genres then it will only cause confusion to people who come along - most newbies wont know the difference between a lot of the genres.

im gonna join the italian and old skool classics section together. il also get rid of the dates then for now we will just have old skool classics, old skool hardcore, warehouse and misc - i think for the time being that will be sufficient and then we can look at changing sections about etc as we get busier.

thanks for everyones input up to now and thanks for all chipping in - the site is going to the biggest thing since sliced mushrooms - i can feel it in me water

respect
